Autism Summit

Embracing Neurodiversity — Gifted People Services Hosts its Second Public Autism Education Summit
April 25, 2026  Toronto

During the lecture sharing session, four guest speakers delivered engaging and highly practical lectures. Focusing on behavioral intervention, emotional support, physical conditioning, and future development, they shared insights that combined theoretical depth with practical experience, addressing real-world challenges parents face in raising their children. The complementary perspectives from different fields made the content more systematic and comprehensive, providing attending families with clear and referable support pathways, and fostering a lively atmosphere of discussion.

Event Highlight

On April 25, the Autism Summit was successfully held at the Scarborough Civic Centre in Toronto.

A highlight of this forum was the solo exhibition of autistic artist Mary Shen. Sixteen works were on display, attracting many guests to stop and admire their unique and delicate artistic expression. Through her paintings, Mary presents a rich tapestry of emotions and her inner world, allowing the public to re-understand the ways in which the autistic community expresses themselves from an artistic perspective.

During the special sharing session, Mary and her mother took to the stage together to share the stories behind their creations and their own growth experiences. Their heartfelt expressions moved the audience, allowing them to more deeply appreciate the perseverance and love behind every special family. Art, at this moment, became an important bridge connecting understanding and empathy.

Strong Government Support

The forum also garnered attention and support from governments at all levels. Many dignitaries expressed their concern and affirmation for the autism community through attendance or congratulatory messages. This not only reflects the importance society attaches to related issues but also injects positive momentum into the development of future service systems. Dignitaries who attended or expressed their support in various ways included: Judy Yeung, representative of MP Shaun Chen's office, who attended and brought a congratulatory letter; MPP Aris Babikian who attended; MPP David Smith who attended the event; MPP Logan Kanapathi who sent a congratulatory letter; Scarborough Councillor Jamaal Myers who attended and brought a congratulatory letter; Markham Ward 8 Councillor Isa Lee who attended and brought a congratulatory letter; and Richmond Hill Ward 4 Councillor Simon Cui who sent a congratulatory letter.
