Instructor Therapists Co-op Placement Students 

Organization Info: 

Founded in August 2012, "Gifted People Services" is a non-profit organization registered in Ontario. It is Canada's first and largest Mandarin-based organization that can provide a full range of services to families with special children. Children with special needs served by Gifted Services include autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, ADHD, epilepsy, learning disabilities, selective aphasia, and other developmental delays. There are currently four campuses including ones in Markham, Vaughn, Scarborough, and Ajax. Since its establishment, the center has served more than 900 families. By giving parents correct guidance, reducing the pressure of diagnosis, exploring the special skills of disabled children, and enhancing the children’s independent living ability to improve the overall quality of life of the family. We provide free parent consultation, government subsidy applications, decompression courses, and various lectures; we also provide treatment and various rehabilitation courses for special children. Many children have achieved remarkable results. Our slogan is: "One small step at a time, working together, we can create miracles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Instructor Therapists to Implement the ABA / IBI program related to the needs and goals of the client under BCBA supervision.

  • Data Collection and communication with BCBA.

  • Maintain a good rapport with the interdisciplinary team, including the family.

  • Create and maintain a healthy and positive environment for the client to promote progress.

  • Assist Instructor Therapists to provide consultation and education to the family regarding the client's needs and goals.

  • Assist Instructor Therapists to create optimal opportunities for learning by including the family in the therapy sessions.

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Educational background in behavioral sciences, psychology, or early childhood education

  • Good knowledge about children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Great customer service and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members

  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle or other reliable method of transportation

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 

  • Weekend availability
