Volunteer Application Process

Welcome to our volunteer team!
This page will guide you through the volunteer application process, timeline, and the support and recognition you will receive during your service.

Volunteer Commitments

Volunteers are expected to uphold the organization’s mission and values, respect the dignity and privacy of those they serve, be reliable and punctual in completing their assigned tasks, and maintain open and respectful communication with coordinators and peers.​​

Benefits for Volunteers

Volunteers may receive a certificate of hours or a reference letter upon request, while also gaining opportunities to build organizational and teamwork skills, engage with the community to expand their network, and access training and personal growth opportunities.​​

Submit Application

Timeline: Day 1–3

  • Complete the online or paper Volunteer Application Form.

  • Provide valid identification (parent/guardian consent required for minors).

Screening & Interview

Timeline: Day 4–7

  • The Volunteer Coordinator will review your application.

  • Short interview (phone/online/in-person, 15–30 minutes) to learn about your interests, skills, and availability.

Background Check (if required)

Timeline: Day 7–14

  • For roles involving children, seniors, or vulnerable populations, a Police Check / Vulnerable Sector Check is required if you are older than 18.

  • Processing usually takes 1–2 weeks.

Orientation & Training

Timeline: Week 2–3

  • Attend an orientation session (1–2 hours).

  • Training includes:

    • Organization’s mission and values

    • Role responsibilities

    • Safety and confidentiality policies

    • How to record volunteer hours

Active Volunteering

Timeline: From Week 3 onwards

  • Begin volunteering according to the agreed schedule.

  • Sign in/out, complete assigned tasks.

  • Communicate actively with the coordinator and team.

Ongoing Support & Evaluation

Timeline: Every 1–3 months

  • Regular feedback and additional training opportunities.

  • Volunteers may receive a Certificate of Hours or reference letter.

  • Invitations to the annual Volunteer Appreciation Event.
